Katharsis Oct. 20 '13 (Funding Drive)
Thanks to everyone who pledged during the show, and during the funding drive. All together counting pledges made later in the week we raised $1740 on the show and the final total for the drive to date is $222,561! We had almost ten thousand dollars in post-drive pledges come in online, making this the most successful Funding Drive in CJSW’s history, as well as the best Funding Drive of any community radio station in Canada. All money raised goes to capital costs and maintenance. Pending Industry Canada approval we should be upping our FM transmitter power to 18,000 Watts in the next few months as well as developing automatic podcasting via the cjsw.com web site for every show.
A special thanks also to Myke Atkinson, CJSW station manager and host of the great Friday morning electronic show Big Friday. Myke joined me on air for a good portion of the funding drive show and we had a great time expounding on the virtues of CJSW. Have a listen: mp3

Katharsis Mar. 10 '13 (Hook & Eye Live Set)
Hook & Eye is the new project of Jeff MacLeod (ex the Cape May, Pale Air Singers) along with Carl Davison (drums) and Stephen Burchill (bass). Started as a solo creative outlet by Jeff, their sound is rapidly
evolving from the more brooding, slow-burning basement blues documented
on their debut release, the North St. EP, to that of a fierce, more explosive, rock trio. Jeff recorded the EP last summer with his long-time bandmate, Clinton St. John, and it was mixed by Arran Fisher at Acoustikitty. They are excited about sharing the North St. EP and their newest songs with the world. The official record release show is this Thursday night (Mar. 14) at Broken City and they'll soon be heading into the studio with Colin Stewart at The Hive to capture their newest material. You can get a taste of what to expect from their excellent live set.
