Katharsis 2013 CJSW Funding Drive Edition

Like the cold fall winds that coax the leaves from the trees, the annual CJSW funding drive is here again to rustle up some cash for the station. This is the one week out of the year that we ask for your monetary support to keep us going through the long cold winter to come. My funding drive show is Sunday October 20 from 8 to 10 pm. If you listen regularly and appreciate the show (or the station) please consider donating.

This year our goal is to raise $200,000. The station receives roughly half of its funding from an undergraduate student levy ($5/student) at the University of Calgary. This levy pays for the day-to-day operation of the station including the staff salaries, but to cover the capital expenditures, some of the surprise costs, or upgrading equipment, we need to raise money somehow. We sell a miniscule amount of advertising and wish to keep it that way. We are listener-supported radio. If listeners didn't give, we would be stuck. Past money raised has gone to pay for things such as improved broadcast facilities, transmitter upgrades and the ongoing digitization of our physical music library.

This year we want to revamp the cjsw.com web site to incorporate posting of each show's play list and the show recording to the web site automatically at the end of each show (ie. no more waiting weeks for me to get around to posting it here). The estimated cost for this is $60,000 to $80,000. Will you help us out?

If you want to support this show you can phone in during my funding drive show (Sunday October 20 from 8 to 10 pm) at 403-220-5000 or pledge online at any time.

There are a host of fantastic pledge incentives, and I have personally selected some CDs and LPs to give away on my show (see below).

I have also prepared 2 compilation CDs for donors during my show. These feature tracks from some of my favourite releases over the past year. There are only 10 of each available ($75 for one, $120 for both). Don't miss out. Your support is greatly appreciated!
